White Fillings
If we find there is decay, or notice an old filling need replacing, we prefer to restore your teeth with white fillings. White fillings not only look better from a colour perspective, but they are also healthier for you. They are also less traumatic to your teeth.
At Ashgrove Dental we take a proactive approach to dental health, recommending regular dentist check-ups to keep your smile in top shape.
What are White Fillings?
White fillings are used to restore teeth when small cavities are found. They are known as composite resins that are white in colour, which makes your smile look brighter. There are also many benefits of white fillings that allow teeth and fillings to last longer. Some of these include adhesive bonding, similar contraction, expansion and tensile properties that are similar to teeth. This means they work by sticking to the tooth, and the flex with the tooth when eating, drinking and chewing.
Composite resin fillings have come a long way from when they were first introduced in dentistry. That is why nowadays, white fillings are preferred in most cases rather than silver mercury amalgams. Composite resins can be used on anterior and posterior teeth. And can be used to restore small and medium-sized cavities.
White fillings can still be used for large cavities, however, there are better options such as Crowns and Half-Crowns. Read more about Dental Crowns here.
